5:30 a.m. – Meeting with the guide (Monar Bakery), Puerto Jiménez

  • Welcome and introduction by the guide.
  • Safety recommendations to make the most of the experience.
  • Brief overview of the route and interesting facts about Matapalo.

6:00 a.m. – Start of the Safari to Matapalo

  • Our journey begins like a safari, with the opportunity to spot wildlife along the way.
  • Observation of exotic birds and tropical flora.
  • Perfect spots for photography and learning moments about local fauna.

7:00 a.m. – Arrival in Matapalo and Jungle Walk

  • Explore this magical place full of wildlife.
  • Possibility of seeing four monkey species: capuchin, howler, spider, and squirrel monkeys.
  • Observation of sloths, macaws, and colorful birds.
  • Our guide shares educational insights, curiosities, and unique stories from the Osa Peninsula.

12:30 p.m. – Return to Puerto Jiménez

  • Final walk with last wildlife sighting opportunities.
  • Transfer back to the starting point.

  • $125 per person, minimum 2 people.

Itinerary

  • 05:30 am – Check-in at Panadería Monar, Puerto Jiménez

  • 06:00–07:00 am – Ground transport to Matapalo

  • 07:00 am–12:00 pm – Hike through primary rainforest (wildlife spotting)

  • 11:00 am – Snack at a beautiful spot along the route

  • 12:00 pm – Return via shuttle or client’s own transport

  • 12:30 pm – Arrival at Puerto Jiménez

Requirements & Restrictions

  • No minimum age.

  • Restrictions: Not recommended for people with knee/back problems.

  • We recommend you bring:

    Walking shoes or sneakers, insect repellent, rain jacket, sunscreen, cap, if you have a medical condition please mention it, bring your medication if needed, sunglasses and water-friendly shoes.
